Every year in August, a brave group of travelers go off the map to experience the thrills, joys, and many, many terrors of Burning Man, a week-long event that seems designed to blow your mind.
And this place has everything! Burning male effigies, a temple, scattered about art projects and installations, a car that looks like Pac Man, and sand. Lots and lots and lots of sand.
Last year's event in Black Rock City, Nevada, drew a crowd of close to 70,000 people.
For those unable to attend this year however, don't sweat it!
Thanks to the wonders of Instagram, folks who maybe don't do so well with scorching heat or communal living or large unattended fires raging 24/7, can still get the Burning Man experience by looking at photos taken by folks who can somehow last a week in the middle of the desert without flushing toilets.
So get comfy and take a look at a few of our favorite photos from this year's bachannal, right from the comfort of your own home.
They found LOVE in a hopeless place.
