In the 2000 episode "Bart to the Future," the businessman is portrayed as the President of the United States and consequently he leaves the country "broke" (let's hope that part doesn't happen!).

Sixteen years before Donald Trump ran for president, The Simpsons aired an episode in which Trump was actually the President of the United States.
In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, writer Dan Greaney said that the episode was meant to show the downfall of America.
"It was a warning to America," he said. "And that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."
