Not only did Amanda Brown wow the judges and audience with her performance of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” on last night’s episode of The Voice, but she also stole the show with her new look!So how did the fan favorite and star of Team Adam Levine transform herself? Luckily, Shawn Finch and Darcy Gilmore, hair and makeup stylists for The Voice, spilled the details to Life & Style. “Amanda wanted to sing a rock song and wanted to ‘rock’ out some new hair,” Shawn tells Life & Style. “I’ve been wanting to add a little length to Amanda’s existing hair, so I added extensions. I wanted an ‘A-line’ bob, but Amanda wanted curls, so we settled on using two types of curling implements.”Shawn explains he also used a flatiron over the hair as he twisted it in circles, causing it to curl: “This loose and random way of curling causes the hair to not look perfect — which is what we wanted: random, soft, loose curls.”As for the makeup, “We had to marry the locks of total rock ’n’ roll with the needs of TV,” Darcy tells Life & Style. “This means we didn’t want her to look ‘unkempt’ but with the balance of slightly worn in makeup of a rock star. To achieve this look, you must layer and layer.”Starting off with primer on her eyelids, Amanda used tons of pigment, Darcy says. “Placement is important because it needs to be smudged all around — generously — including the entire under-eye line.”“I used tons of lashes on her,” Darcy adds. “Then I lined black liner on both her upper and lower eyelids.”So what about that awesome lip color? “I went for a pinky-beige matte-lip look,” Darcy shares. “A glossy lip would’ve taken the you right out of her performance. You would’ve been concentrating on her makeup instead of her voice!”Well, we have to say this team created one incredible look! We can’t wait to tune in again to see what else they have in store for the contestants.Do you think Amanda is one of the top contenders so far? Check out her performance below.
