In perhaps the weirdest news we’ve heard, well, ever, there’s a woman who recently found out she had a baby skeleton calling her stomach home for what’s believed to be 38 years.
Sixty-two-year-old Jyoti Kumar, who hails from central India, had an ectopic pregnancy at age 24. According to the Mayo Clinic, an ectopic pregnancy is when the fertilized egg that is supposed to attach itself to the lining of the uterus, ends up somewhere outside of it and cannot proceed as a normal pregnancy.
Kumar recently experienced awful stomach pains and decided to go to the doctor to find out the cause. When Dr. Mohammad Yunus Shah and his team operated, they found the remains of the child from her ectopic pregnancy in the 70s.
"She apparently knew that the baby had died and that she would need an operation, and we gathered she got scared at the prospect of surgery and so went away to her village without undergoing the operation,” Dr. Shah said, adding he believes this is the longest ectopic pregnancy ever recorded.
