Meet Dr. Michael Salzhauer, the first plastic surgeon to broadcast on Snapchat!
That's right, the Miami-based doctor shares 10-second clips of his procedures to around 100,000 people daily on the social media app (you can follow him at @therealdrmiami). “This is the reality of plastic surgery...and I want people to see it," he shares. (WARNING: Graphic images below)

Known as TheRealDrMiami, Salzhauer, who's been practicing for 19 years and asks his patients to sign a consent form before he posts on social media, explains that the sometimes gruesome surgery scenes show "the daily goings-on" at his office, Bal Harbour Plastic Surgery.
“I put my work out there...I’ve had 10,000 patients, no one’s ever died, no one’s ever not woken up," Salzhauer says. "This puts the whole process in perspective for people; they can relate to it, they can see how it’s going on in real time, and it makes them comfortable with the idea.”
His methods appear to be working! Salzhauer claims that his business has increased from booking 15-20 appointments a day to 80-100. The next available time-slot? August 2016!
And for those who criticize him for filming when he should be paying attention, Salzhauer explains that during a two-hour surgery, only four minutes of it are spent on his phone.
“The other one hour and 56 minutes, I’m focused on the surgery,” he tells BuzzFeed News. “It’s not like I’m talking the entire time while I’m operating.”
Well that's a relief!
