Vin Diesel was rightfully heartbroken when he lost his Furious 7 costar and friend, Paul Walker, in 2013 — but we had no idea how much of a role model he was for the 47-year-old.
The actor explained on the 'Today' show that he looked up to Paul, who was 40 at the time of his death, especially since the 'Varsity Blues' star welcomed daughter Meadow (now 16) when he was just 25-years-old.
"[Walker] went into fatherhood a lot earlier than I did. He took on that role of kind of being the guide into fatherhood for me. It's kind of beautiful," he said. "The one thing Paul always wanted me to do was be present at my child's birth. He was so adamant about it."
He went on to reminisce about how the beloved star canceled production while filming 'Fast 5' because Vin's girlfriend was in labor with their second child.
"He was like, 'We can film later. You have to go now.' And he was right and I did."

Those memories came rushing back for Vin as he and his partner Paloma Jiménez welcomed their third child, who he named Pauline in honor of the late actor.
"There's no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord," he said on the 'Today' show. "I just thought... I knew he was there and it felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my family and a part of my world."
