Have you ever dreamed of owning the gown a celebrity wore to an award show? Now you can!Extra host Maria Menounos is auctioning off the gorgeous Oliver Tolentino dress she wore to the 2012 Emmy Awards on eBay — for a good cause. All proceeds will go to the Kibera School for Girls in association with Shining Hope for Communities, which was started by CEO Kennedy Odede. While growing up in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya, Kennedy witnessed firsthand how violence affects women (including his mother and sisters) there. Wanting to bring light to the terrible situation, Kennedy co-founded the nonprofit in 2009 with COO Jessica Posner.“Jessica and Kennedy work together to champion gender equality and combat urban poverty," Maria, who visited the area last year to profile the pair, says. The organization focuses on fighting poverty and gender inequality through its tuition-free schools for girls."I will never forget walking down the cold concrete-filled hallways only to hear the little girls in school singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’...or introducing themselves in class saying, 'My name is faith, and I am a girl and I am important.’ Please join me in making them more important.”To bid on Maria's dress, click here.
