To be or not to be… a Kardashian. That is the question Khloé Kardashian reportedly struggled with following the birth of her daughter True amid baby daddy Tristan Thompson's cheating scandal. The KUWTK star eventually decided to give her baby girl the NBA star's surname — but the decision came a couple of days AFTER her arrival.

According to TMZ, Khloé chose the name True a month ago, but when news broke about Tristan's flings with multiple women during her pregnancy she became conflicted between filling out Kardashian or Thompson on the birth certificate. Sources also told the outlet that Bevely Hills boutique Petit Tresor was told to hold off on embroidering "TT" on blankets Khloé ordered until she made her decision.

While giving her daughter Tristan's last name seemed like the right thing to do for the first-time mom, that doesn't mean Khloé didn't send Tristan a message with their daughter's moniker. An insider revealed exclusively to Life & Style the real meaning behind True's name. "In the back of her mind, she knows the name will tug at Tristan's soul every time he sees his daughter and hopes that will help him to be a true person," the source explained. "Clearly, he's failed and Khloé's still so incredibly hurt. All Khloé ever wanted in life was a man that would be true, truthful, and trustworthy."

However, her mom Kris Jenner went with a more PG version. "I'm so excited to welcome my precious little granddaughter True," she wrote on Instagram. "FUN FACT… my Grandfather’s name on my Dad’s side was True Otis Houghton… my Dad’s name was Robert True Houghton… so I am so excited Khloé named her daughter True!!!"

Baby name aside, True is helping her famous mama heal following her very public heartbreak. "Khloé sees her little angel as an inspiration," our source said. "She loves True unconditionally and can't stop gushing over her. She knows that little baby True will always be true to her and Khloé's healing as best as she can as a new mother."
