It looks like singer Sam Smith is back on the market! The 26-year-old was dating 24-year-old actor Brandon Flynn for the past nine months, but the couple has allegedly split, The Sun reported on Wednesday, June 27.

"Sam and Brandon had a real whirlwind romance. They really fell for each other," a source told the news outlet. "But they are both so busy with their careers and unfortunately things just haven’t worked out. Sam is obviously devastated. This is the most significant relationship he has ever had. Thankfully he is on tour across the US at the moment which has been a welcome distraction."

Sam also deleted photos of the two off his Instagram account, and seemingly confirmed the news while performing on tour at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Wednesday. During his performance, he told the crowd that he was "going through some s–t" and urged everyone to put "our heartache aside" and "have some fun."

A few of my favorite things from 2017, as shit as some of it was can't help but see all the good! Hoping 2018 is full of ups and downs as well… saw Call Me By Your Name today and couldn't help myself… "In your place, if there is pain, nurse it, and if there is a flame, don’t snuff it out, don’t be brutal with it. Withdrawal can be a terrible thing when it keeps us awake at night, and watching others forget us sooner than we’d want to be forgotten is no better. We rip out so much of ourselves to be cured of things faster than we should that we go bankrupt by the age of 30 and have less to offer each time we start with someone new. But to feel nothing so as not to feel anything—what a waste!”

Sam previously talked to Ellen DeGeneres about his relationship with Brandon and many fans thought they would go the distance after hearing what he said. After coming back into the spotlight following a break from music, Ellen asked on her talk show what we were all dying to know late last year. "You're not single right now anymore, right?" she said. "No, I'm not, which is crazy… It's weird bringing out an album and not being single. Because when I brought out In the Lonely Hour, I was so lonely. But now, I'm singing songs about another guy. I'm quite happy, so it's quite weird," he responded. So, who is Brandon Flynn exactly? Keep scrolling for everything you need to know about Sam's ex.

He stars in 13 Reasons Why.

Brandon is in the Netflix series and plays basketball-playing hottie Justin. In April 2017, he talked to The Hollywood Reporter about how much he relates to the characters on the show. “When I was in middle school, I dealt a lot with people not being cool with me being into acting,” he said. “They thought it was feminine. They thought I should be in sports. I was chunky, so I got made fun of for that. It was hard. It put me in a dark space of not wanting to be myself and trying to be what others wanted me to be. It's a form of self-harm to try and not be yourself and not live your truth. This show has made me look at the world and my relationships and try to be kind and have an open heart to people, because you truly never know what's going on in people's lives.”

Brandon’s character interacts with people who have substance abuse problems, which is also something Brandon dealt with in real life. “I self-medicated a lot,” he said. “I did a lot of drugs and I chose to quiet my truth and alter my perception to make it easier to be comfortable.”

He just recently came out as gay.

In an emotional post on Instagram, Brandon opened up about his sexuality. Talking about Sydney, Australia’s, vote on gay marriage, Brandon urged people to “vote yes” on the issue. “We've been scared s–tless our whole lives thanks to all the stigmas that surround us,” the caption read. "We've fought, we've come out bravely even in our fear… Equality takes courage, it worries me that too many people in this world lack the balls to stand up for what is right.”

He’s from Miami.

Though he moved to New York at the beginning of his career, Brandon was born in Miami in 1993. There, he attended the New World School of the Arts. For college, he attended the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

He’s worked in theater a lot.

Though he’s only just starting his career on TV, much of his resumé is filled with theater credits. He’s performed in such classics as Our Town, An Oresteia, Henry V, and Ivona.

We hope Brandon and Sam get back together soon!
