If you've been watching Season 2 of Riverdale you're most likely disturbed AF by the "Black Hood" killer. The premiere shocked fans when the controversial character Miss Grundy (Sarah Habel) was unexpectedly and violently murdered by the murderer minutes before the episode ended.

Last season, we saw Miss Grundy engage in a predatory relationship with high school student Archie (KJ Apa), but their romance fizzled out after Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) dug up some dirt on the music teacher. But, fans learned that Miss Grundy was back to her old tricks as she passionately — and inappropriately — made out with a young student at her home.

After she dismissed the young man, Miss Grundy’s life was cut short when a mysterious killer (the same guy who tried to murder Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews) lifted her up by the neck with a sharp object before mercilessly slicing her throat. Needless to say, viewers were not ready for that twist — and all the twists that followed. The identity of "Black Hood" is still a mystery, but that doesn't mean we can't look at some of the most popular theories. Hiram Lodge

Obviously, fans are suspicious of Veronica Lodge's criminal of a father. He says his illegal ways are behind him, but he showed his true character when he encouraged Archie to go after the "Black Hood." But, as one fan pointed out… maybe that's not surprising enough.

"It seems too obvious that Hiram Lodge is the Black Hood for it to actually be him #Riverdale." And honestly, the Lodge family has been through enough. Do we really need to make Veronica's dad a shady businessman and a murderer?!

Hal Cooper

Back during the Season 1 finale when "Black Hood" was only the suspect in Fred's shooting, viewers held onto one clue that pointed in the direction of Betty Cooper's dad, Hal. The shooter's eyes were bright green and looked a lot like the patriarch of the seemingly perfect, yet super dysfunctional Cooper family.

One fan tweeted, "I'm gonna call this now bc I called Alice Cooper being a Southside Serpent and it came true. HAL COOPER IS THE HOOD. Thanks. #Riverdale." If the ski mask fits…

Chic Cooper (Betty's brother)

LOL — we haven't even met Betty's mysterious brother and people already think he's a killer. But, it makes sense. He might resent the Cooper family for living their life without him and leaving him behind. "Black Hood" is manipulating Betty and threatening Polly. Maybe he is trying to get back at his sisters out of jealousy.

"If he has green eyes and a grudge… could the black hood be… Chic Cooper? #Riverdale." So if not the father, then the son?

The Serpents

We personally don't think it's the Serpents because that's way too easy. Seriously, since the season started Alice Cooper has been pointing her hypocritical finger to the southside and we're over it. They might scary drug dealers but we doubt one of them is "Black Hood."

Kevin Keller

Just hear us out. This latest theory from Reddit questions that maybe "Black Hood" has a cop-cat. Maybe the person who sent Betty the letter and is calling her isn't the same person who sent her mom the original letter.

"Sheriff Keller told Alice the letter to the Riverdale Register was written by someone different than the letter to Betty, and I have a theory that it was Kevin, and that Kevin has also been the one calling Betty. He has a motive (being upset about Betty going to his dad about his cruising the woods), he would know that Betty would tell Archie about the conversations, and he would know that she loved Nancy Drew as a child. It would also explain the 'I don’t like sharing you' line, because he and Betty are best friends. Kevin got over their fight waaaay too quickly, and the writers said there would be more of a storyline for him this season. Maybe this is it." Whoa. Mind = blown.

We're sure we'll have the answers by the finale (if not sooner!) In the meantime we'll just continue to try to solve the mystery ourselves. "I love the idea of a small-town being in the grips of a killer," creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said. "The way that Zodiac was a portrait of San Francisco, we're really focusing on Riverdale High and what it's like to live in the icy grip of a serial killer."
