Hey, kitty girl! It’s been less than a year since drag queen extraordinaire Alexis Michelle placed fifth on Season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race — and she’s been killin’ it ever since. Not only does she regularly put her talents on display in sensational cabaret performances, the NYC-based entertainer is hard at work on her debut album. Despite her busy schedule, Alexis, 34, took time out to chat with Life & Style about Season 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars — and revealed the contestant she believes has the charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to make it all the way.

“This is really a season to showcase brilliant entertainers. So far, BenDeLaCreme’s been crushing this. I am just blown away by what she’s given on this season so far,” Alexis said of the perpetually positive Season 6 alum. “Right now, for me, Ben is the frontrunner just based on how she’s been crushing these first few challenges. But who knows? Anything can happen. It’s All Stars. So I’ll be interested to see if she can keep up the momentum or if somebody else is going to come from behind.”

If BenDeLaCreme, 36, doesn’t snatch the crown, Alexis can think of a few more queens who have what it takes to secure a spot in the finale. “You can never underestimate Shangela because that girl’s a force of nature!” she said of the Southern spitfire, whose appearance on All Stars 3 marks her third on the Drag Race franchise. Alexis also has faith in Kennedy Davenport and her fellow Season 9 queen Aja.

“I’m a huge longtime fan of Kennedy Davenport. Even though she stumbled a little bit in the lyrics impersonating Janet Jackson in last week’s challenge, I know what an incredible entertainer she is, so I hope she continues to show out strong,” she said. “Aja, so far, has been killing it, so I’m excited to see her continue in the competition.”

Whether Aja wins a place in the Drag Race Hall of Fame alongside RuPaul and former All Stars winners Chad Michaels and Alaska, Alexis told Life & Style that she couldn’t be more proud of the 24-year-old Brooklyn native and her impressive glow-up.

“I knew Aja for years before we were on Season 9 of Drag Race. I’ve been a big fan of her and her drag for a long time. And she was always an impressive queen on the scene in New York even before Drag Race. I think for a variety of reasons, Aja didn’t present the visuals that she felt strongest about on Season 9,” she explained. “But it’s just so clear that she has continued to evolve as a makeup artist and she’s continued to refine her personal style. She has such a great fashion sense.”

For her part, Alexis would love to treat fans to a glimpse of her own glow-up on a future season of All Stars. “Absolutely, I would totally do it because as part of that glow-up, it’s both visual and internal. Even right when I got back from filming [Season 9], I felt so different. But by now, with the time and space I’ve had from the experience, I feel like a much different queen aesthetically than I was,” she told Life & Style. “And there’s been a lot of time for self-reflection, so I’d love to have another chance to compete and show people what I have to offer as an entertainer, but also as a look queen.”

Until then, you can find Alexis performing live at NYC’s Feinstein’s/54 Below in her show, Alexis Michelle: ALEXIS, I AM!, “a very personal show” in which she discusses “my Drag Race experience, meditating and living a life of less attachment, and my experiences from the past year.” For tickets, visit 54Below.com.
