In the age of “consciously uncoupling,” it almost makes us sadder to see amicable breakups between two amazing people than to see explosive blowouts. That’s why the confirmation that rapper Logic and his wife Jessica Andrea have filed for divorcing is so devastating. According to TMZ, the rapper, whose real name is Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, filed the papers the end his marriage on April 19. The split should be pretty easy since the ocuple shares no children.

But why are they even getting a divorce when they’ve said they still love each other? His explanation from March 20 will break your heart. “After two years of marriage, we have come to the loving conclusion that we are much better as friends,” he wrote on Instagram. As for the reason, he says, “It’s very simple: it just didn’t work out. There is no anger involved. No fighting, no cheating, no nothing. We love each other and will continue to support each other for the rest of our lives.”

The last thing Logic wants his fans to do is to start attacking Jessica, even though she unfollowed him on Instagram, “Be happy that we could peacefully end this chapter of our relationship, beginning a new one full of love and happiness,” he told his supporters. “There will be no displays of anger or hatred that tear people apart; the public will not be made to choose sides.” However, he said they would “appreciate your respect and privacy on this issue.”

Unfortunately, it seems like Logic was forced to reveal the divorce to fans sooner than he planned to because reports of the split broke last week. Fans are totally devastated, because they were always so cute together on the red carpet, having fun and doing silly poses. They were together for a little less than five years, dating for two and a half and being married for another two and a half. Luckily, it should be a pretty clean break.
