Mayim Bialik took plenty of expert advice before picking out her Emmys dress, but there was one very important person whose opinion she didn't get - her mom!
"My mom really wanted to see a picture of the dress," the 37-year-old actress admitted, "but that was an opinion I couldn't handle."
Instead, Mayim, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, relied on fashion experts. "I'm not really good at fashion stuff," she confesses. "It's hard for me, so it's trusting my stylist, Allison Kahn, and trusting my publicist, Heather Weiss. They make most of the heavy lifting decisions."
Unlike some women in Hollywood, Mayim has some restrictions to keep in mind when she picks out a gown. As a devout Jew who stays modest in her style, Mayim does not wear clothing that exposes her shoulders or knees.
As for tonight's look, Mayim is keeping mum on her final decision. She says she gives herself two and a half hours to prep for the big night: two for hair and makeup, "and half an hour for styling and freaking out."
Tune in to see what Mayim and your other favorite stars wear to the Emmys tonight on CBS at 8:00 PM.
