“I just did it mostly ‘cause I knew the fans in Amsterdam would love it. And I knew that the whole place would go super wild,” she said.
So where did the idea come from?
“It’s just not something I think about. I was just walking out of my room and then I was like, ‘Oh, I have this in my bad. That will be really funny,’” she explained. “I didn’t say anything to anybody. And I don’t tell anyone I’m going to do it. Some people just over think so much.”

In fact, Miley says she loves coming to Europe because the people concentrate on her performance rather than her outrageous antics.
“I think after you do something like that and then everyone kind of doesn’t want to talk as much about your performances, but this is one of my favorite parts about coming to Europe,” she said. “Even though that happened, it’s not the main focus of the night. Everyone was liking my performance and how I sounded, which is so different than when you do something in the states.”
“When I did the VMAs, everything just became about teddy bears, or about what I was wearing,” she added. “People over here really listen and take in all of it, it’s not just about that.”

As Life & Style reported, MTV wasn’t too pleased with the smoking incident.
“She promised that there were not going to be any surprises, so everyone went crazy when she did that," an insider tells the mag. "MTV's legal team had to get involved, as smoking isn't permitted in a public venue. They were told they can't show her smoking indoors [on the US telecast] because it's illegal to do so. It was great publicity, but there have been so many complaints by parents of teenagers who were at the show."
