Kanye West may have a lot of haters, but Will Ferrell isn’t one of them.
Life & Style caught up with the funnyman at the Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues premiere in NYC on Sunday, and he dished to the mag about the rapper, who makes a quick cameo in the sequel. In fact, he couldn’t stop raving about ‘Ye!
“He’s kind of the most prolific, creative person I’ve ever been around because while he was off set, he was on the phone talking about a photo shoot or writing down new lyrics for another thing,” Will told Life & Style. “His mind is just constantly working.”
Kanye would probably appreciate that considering he calls himself “a creative genius.”
But though Kim Kardashian’s fiancé is known for saying some pretty outrageous things, Will — who returns as the self-obsessed and sexist (yet hilarious) news anchor Ron Burgundy — shared that Kanye didn’t just show up and leave.
“That was really fascinating because he came to our set and was exactly the antithesis of what you think he’d be,” the former Saturday Night Live star said about filming with Kanye. “He’s such a fan of comedy. He’s almost reverential and quiet around us.”
North West’s dad was on location for two days and even made sure to bond with the cast.
“He wanted to hang out the whole time,” Will, 46, told the mag, adding that he’d definitely work with the 36-year-old again.
The Yeezus musician has long been a Will fan. In 2011, he personally reached out to the comedian and asked if he could sample a couple of quotes from Will’s movie Blades of Glory in “N**gas in Paris,” Kanye and Jay Z’s hit song off their joint album, Watch the Throne.
Will also talked about working with Robin Thicke on their remake of Christopher Cross’ “Ride Like the Wind,” which will be featured on the flick’s soundtrack. It was unveiled last week.
“That was an idea that I think Paramount Music had,” the actor said about the collaboration with the “Blurred Lines” singer. “‘Ride Like the Wind’ is a big song at the top of the movie and the idea came around to record it with Robin and Ron Burgundy. It’s just another little aspect to the promotion of this movie.”
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which also stars Christina Applegate, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, hits theaters Dec. 18.
