What's it like to Photoshop images of yourself in an effort to discover "true beauty?"
Artist Kelsey Higley made it her mission to find out — and ended up with a 126-image stop motion self-portrait that shows her manipulating her own body.
"The video goes through several stages of 'beauty' as I receive conflicting opinions on what true beauty is," Higley writes of the project. "
This looped animation illustrates the effects media and public opinions have on the way we look at ourselves."
At a certain point, it becomes hard to tell who the "real Kelsey" is, but Higley says that she found the process surprisingly "therapeutic."
"This project reminds me that these things I categorize as my flaws are what makes me human," she writes. "And I love that.”
