The ‘20s style video and the first hit single from her 2006 album, Back to Basics, was followed by “Hurt” and “Candyman.” She says of the inspiration for the songs, “[The album] still had some sort of relation to my past.”

"I was not expecting it at all, just like I wasn't expecting the nominations,” she spilled right after her win. “I had no speech prepared, nothing, and I was trembling like I don't know what, but it feels amazing."
The songstress joined Li’l Kim, Mya and Pink for the smash hit from Moulin Rouge! in 2001. “I felt there was a transition,” she says about the outrageous song and dance number. “That was my first step in the direction of kind of being more myself and letting loose and letting things be big and crazy and fun.”
