Zac Efron has broken box office records, and not in a good way.
The 27-year-old's movie We Are You Friends opened in theaters everywhere last weekend and box office numbers were grim – like really, really grim. Making just $1.8 million, the movie made history for having the worst opening weekend for a major Hollywood release ever. And it's in third place for being the worst of all time.

Th only other movies that made less money were from independent studios – Oogieloves In The Big Balloon Adventure (2012) made $444K and Delgo (2008) made $512K.
Luckily, the movie was relatively inexpensive for Warner Bros. Film standards – it cost them $6 million to make and $2 million to distribute.
"This was a passion project for Zac Efron, and we believe in him," Jeff Goldstein, Warners' Executive Vice President for Domestic Distribution said. "Yes, the result was disappointing, but this was a small film."
Well, not every movie can be a hit. Here's to hoping Zac's next film knocks it out of the park.
