Another week, another makeover!
On last night’s episode of The Voice, Team Blake Shelton contestant Cassadee Pope stunned the crowd with her rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s “Behind These Hazel Eyes.”
But we couldn’t take our eyes off her hip new transformation — especially her colorful locks, which coach Christina Aguilera has also been rocking! Now Voice hairstylist Shawn Finch, and makeup artist, Darcy Gilmore, share with Life & Style how to get Cassadee’s look.
“We wanted to add a new flair and dimension to her look because she was adding a new dimension to her performance by playing the guitar,” Finch tells Life & Style. “I decided to add a splash of bright color to her hair and felt purple would compliment two-tone red and blonde hair.”
“We added the extensions and lightly curled her hair away from her face. After parting her hair in the center, I added ‘dutch braids’ on each side of the part,” Finch continues, adding, “This braiding also helped to open up her face and secure her bangs so they wouldn’t fall into her face during the performance. Cassadee was just as thrilled as I was!”
EXCLUSIVE: How to get The Voice's Amanda Brown's rock 'n' roll look
As for the makeup, Gilmore had that situation under control.
“I started with the correct foundation then added cream shimmer to it for the body, blending down the neck,” she tells Life & Style. “Then I added a cream blush/gel bronzer combo to her cheeks, set it with power, and added pigment over that and a highlight across the top.”
Unlike her colorful locks, Gilmore opted for a darker look when it came to Cassadee’s eyes.
“We used shimmery chocolate browns except for the crease to add depth, matte taupe color and matte cream color to the brow bone,” she says. “I curled the lashes and added mascara and liner to the top lid. We also filled in her eyebrows with a color to match her hair more naturally and created more definition by applying it to above the actual brow.”
As for her lips? “We used salmon pink lip liner and matching lipstick for long wear ability.”
She certainly looked as flawless as she sounded in her performance!
