Duccio Calamai on Reinvention, Entrepreneurship and Building Lifestyle Brands Across Asia

Across industries, Duccio Calamai creates experiences that bring people together.

Too many people who have aspirations of better fitness and a better lifestyle avoid the gym due to old fears. They’ve been told all their lives that something is “wrong” with them. They live differently, think differently, look differently and so they have been told they are simply the wrong fit, not just for a gym but for society. These people often include creatives, architects, designers and business owners whose vision is unique or ahead of the curve but who have often been denigrated for thinking outside of convention. Those are the clients Duccio Calamai has made a mission of serving.

His approach is shaped by a career that has crossed fashion, hospitality, wellness and entrepreneurship, with each chapter contributing to the vision he continues to build today. Throughout that journey, he has remained focused on creating environments where people feel connected, inspired and empowered to pursue personal growth on their own terms.

One of the ways that vision has taken shape is through the diverse businesses and projects Duccio has developed across Southeast Asia. From fitness and wellness ventures to restaurants, cafés, and real estate developments in Indonesia, his work has consistently focused on creating spaces that bring people together. Regardless of the industry, his goal remains the same: building environments where connection, personal growth and meaningful experiences can thrive.

A Career Built on Reinvention

Long before launching fitness and wellness ventures in Bali, Duccio Calamai was building experience across multiple industries. Trained in visual merchandising, he spent nearly a decade working with internationally recognized brands including Zara, Giorgio Armani and Boggi, developing an understanding of branding, customer experience and the power of physical spaces.

Rather than remaining in a single profession, he deliberately challenged himself to start over. After studying at an international cooking school, he entered hospitality with no prior experience, beginning as a waiter in Sydney before progressing into management positions across Australia, Italy and Bali. Those years taught him how to lead teams, build communities and create environments where people genuinely wanted to spend time.

Today, Duccio draws from all of those experiences as an entrepreneur operating at the intersection of wellness, hospitality, design and lifestyle. His projects reflect a broader vision centered on creating spaces that foster connection, personal growth and meaningful experiences.

Turning Passion Into Purpose

Duccio’s connection to fitness developed alongside his professional journey. While building careers across fashion, hospitality and management, training remained a constant part of his life. During his years in Bali, he immersed himself in the local wellness scene, exploring different gyms and observing how people engaged with fitness, community and personal growth.

As his career evolved, Duccio expanded beyond fitness into hospitality, food and beverage concepts and real estate development throughout Indonesia. Working across multiple industries gave him a broader understanding of how people interact with spaces, communities and experiences. Today, that entrepreneurial mindset continues to guide new projects across Southeast Asia, including ventures in Vietnam and Thailand, where he is exploring opportunities that blend wellness, hospitality, lifestyle and property development.

Community impact remains an important part of Duccio’s work. Through his businesses, he donates 10% of profits to support orphanages across Indonesia and Vietnam, helping provide food, school supplies, books, toys and other essentials. During Christmas and other celebrations, he regularly brings members of his team to spend time with the children, organizing activities and creating memorable experiences that go beyond financial support. He has also participated in local environmental and community initiatives throughout the regions where he operates.

“For us,” Duccio says, “building a business also means building responsibility toward the people and places around us.”

What’s Next

Beyond any single business, Duccio continues building on a career that spans fashion, hospitality, wellness, food and beverage, real estate development and entrepreneurship. Having developed and operated projects across multiple industries throughout Southeast Asia, he is now focused on expanding his portfolio through ventures that combine lifestyle, hospitality, wellness and property development under a broader long-term vision.

Looking ahead, Duccio is focused on expanding projects across Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. From wellness concepts and hospitality ventures to real estate developments and community-driven experiences, he continues exploring opportunities that bring people together while creating long-term value. For Duccio, success is not defined by a single business but by the ability to build projects that inspire connection, creativity and a better quality of life across the communities they serve.
