Abby Lee Miller’s Return to ‘Dance Moms’ Reportedly Isn’t Going as Smoothly as She’d Hope
Get ready — Abby Lee Miller is reportedly returning to Dance Moms! The 51-year-old reality star is expected to make a comeback on the Lifetime show’s eighth season — and it looks like she’s already involved in the casting process.
A source revealed the exciting news to Entertainment Tonight, and according to dancemomscasting.com, she’s looking for children to appear on the show. “The most infamous dance instructor in the world is going back to her roots and only interested in parents who are ready to take their kids to the next level,” the casting post read. “Abby Lee Miller is currently holding auditions for her new ALDC elite competition team. Dancers must be MINIS 7-9 or JUNIORS 10-12. All must be serious about competing and winning on a national level.”
The report may come as a surprise to some, however, considering Abby announced in March of last year that she was leaving the show. Not to mention, her criminal record and recent cancer diagnosis. Back in April, Abby was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma — which is a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma — and she’s currently bound to a wheelchair.
It’s her record that’s proving to be the trickier obstacle, though. According to Radar Online, Abby’s having trouble recruiting new dancers for the show. “Production is having a hard time,” revealed an inside source. “A lot of parents don’t want their children affiliated with Abby.” Not only was she already known for being notoriously tough on her students — and their moms — she also now has to contend with the fact that she was handed down a one-year prison sentence after being convicted of bankruptcy fraud and bringing $120,000 in Australian currency into the United States without reporting it.
The dance coach finished up her prison sentence back in March, but she still has to contend with two years of supervised release. Luckily, it appears she’s still in good spirits, sharing pictures and videos of her hospital visits from students like JoJo Siwa. She also recently shared a cryptic message, that had fans guessing about what will happen in the new season.
“Happy Birthday to you two!!! [Lilly] and [Elliana] do those coats still fit?” she wrote on Instagram. “There is a rumor about Season 8 — We might be headed someplace cold! Anybody have thoughts on this?” We’ll have to wait and see how things turn out — including the cast.
