Alessandra Ambrosio Hangs up Her Angel Wings, Retires From the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
It’s the end of an era — literally! Alessandra Ambrosio revealed on Sunday, Nov. 19, that the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai would be her last. The 36-year-old has been apart of the annual event for the past 17 years.
The brunette beauty broke the news to Entertainment Tonight, explaining that she’s excited to spend more time with her kids, daughter Anja, 9, and son Noah, 5, whom she shares with fiancé Jamie Mazur, She will also working on her swimsuit line, Ale by Alessandra, and recently reprised her role as Karen in Daddy’s Home 2.
The Brazilian model has hit a lot of milestones with the lingeries company. In 2006, she became the first spokesmodel for the brand’s PINK line, and she’s been selected to wear the bejeweled Fantasy Bra twice — once in 2012 (the undergarment featured a 20-carat white diamond in the center) and once in 2014 (it was valued at $2.5 million).
Alessandra was in high spirits a month before her final VS catwalk. “The Chinese really know how to put up a show. I think this year is going to be unbelievable,” she said. “When I first heard, I was so happy because I always wanted to explore China. Since we started with the whole thing for the show, I’ve been three times, which is amazing. I’ve gotten to see different cities and experience the culture. I love the food there.”
As for her exercise regimen, Alessandra told W magazine, “I train the whole year, and right before I start to train a bit more than the rest of the year. I love to workout, and I love to do Tracy Anderson. I get very focused on being fit and feeling good for the runway.”
She added, “I try to go three times a week to Tracy Anderson, then I will for a hike one day of the week or do yoga. Sometimes I feel like I need to do more yoga, and other times I feel I need more toning, which is what Tracy is all about. It really depends how I feel and the strength I have at the time.”
