Pete Davidson’s Proposal to Ariana Grande Was Untraditional: “He Didn’t Get Down on One Knee”
So cute! Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson surprised fans when they got engaged back in June after only a few months of dating, and they’ve kept the details about their engagement pretty private. But now, Ari is opening up about the details about Pete’s proposal and it was actually very untraditional — which fits Ari’s untraditional style perfectly.
During an interview on the Zach Sang Show, Ariana took a break from promoting her new album Sweetener to gush over how Pete asked her to marry him — and she confirmed reports that said Pete was high at the time and they were in bed together when the proposal went down.
“It was just really simple and really sweet. We were just like, hanging out and he had a ring and uh, yeah. He just asked me; He didn’t get down on one knee or anything, thank god,” Ari said. “Oh my god, that would have been so googly. I’m not like a very traditional person, so the fact that I’m even getting married is something I never saw coming. I never saw that coming, I never wanted that. I was like f–k that, there’s no point and then I kinda understood it when it was with the right person.”
Even though Ari and Pete were only dating for a few months at the time that they got engaged, it sounds like Pete really knew Ari well because he gave her a proposal that fit her personality. And while it seemed like their engagement might have happened too soon at the time, Ari recently revealed she knew she wanted to marry Pete as soon as they met for the first time back in 2016.
Fans are excited that Ari is sharing more details of her whirlwind romance, but she still keeping her wedding plans under wraps. “We’re waiting but we’re planning and I’m not gonna tell anybody nothing,” Ari said. “I don’t wanna tell anybody anything until it’s done.”
