Ariel Winter Faces Major Backlash After Posing With Multiple Firearms on Instagram
What were you thinking, girl? Ariel Winter took to Instagram on Sunday, Sept. 10, to post several snaps of herself posing with multiple firearms at the Los Angeles Shooting Club. Not long after posting, the Modern Family actress, 19, was met with major backlash. Learn more in the video below!
“Prepping for the zombie apocalypse obviously,” Ariel captioned the black-and-white ‘gram, in which she proudly holds onto multiple guns. Over the weekend, the teen star also tweeted that she earned a certificate for passing her firearm safety test. But fans were not impressed in the least.
“Thought you were a proper human that was against guns. Apparently not,” one fumed, while another wrote, “Women should be able to feel empowered without the use of a gun.” Another follower bluntly stated, “Guns…never a good idea,” and one simply remarked, “Not cool.”

Despite the negative reactions to her gun post, Ariel couldn’t have been more thrilled to receive her firearm safety certificate. She posted a picture of the piece of paper on her Snapchat story, captioning it, “F–k yes!!!!!” She even licked her weapon — which, BTW, doesn’t sound like a very good (or safe) idea — in one particularly odd post.
While fans are upset over Ariel bearing arms on Instagram, the brunette beauty has been previously slammed for baring too much skin on the social app. Earlier this year, Ariel opened up about the flak she gets for flaunting her body online and how it has affected her.
“I went through a lot of hate online, so I tried to change myself for a really long time. But people just kept hating on me no matter what I did,” she told Refinery29. “I decided that instead of pleasing these other people, I’ll just spend that time pleasing myself. Those people are going to be rude to me regardless of what I do, so I should just try and be happy with what I am.”
