Assault Case Against ‘OITNB’ Star Dascha Polanco Has Been Dropped
Good news for Orange Is the New Black star, Dascha Polanco!
Eight months after the actress was accused of assaulting her teenage neighbor, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has dismissed the case after reviewing the evidence.

Michelle Cardona, 18, alleged that the 33-year-old punched her in the head, pulled her hair and used her fingernails to cut the teen’s arms during an incident on July 29.

But Dascha’s lawyer, Gerald B. Lefcourt, reveals he presented evidence showing that Michelle sought payment from the brunette beauty in exchange for dropping the charges.
“She devised a plan to have Ms. Polanco pay her to withdraw the charges, which was furthered by a campaign of harassment directed at Ms. Polanco and her family and jeopardized their safety,” he said in a statement to E! News.

“Fortunately, we had irrefutable evidence of the complainant’s misdeeds on tape, including her extortion attempts, which was provided to the District Attorney’s Office. Ms. Polanco is delighted to be able finally to put this matter behind her and refocus her energies on her family, and her career,” he concluded.
Dascha is best known for playing Dayanara Diaz in the hit prison dramedy, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
