So heartbreaking. Just hours after EDM DJ Avicii's tragic death, his ex-girlfriend Emily Goldberg finally broke her silence and she quoted lyrics to his hit song, "Wake Me Up" in her touching Instagram tribute.

"'Come on babe, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I’ll show you love.' Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me," Emily wrote in her caption. "I wish I could have lived up to them. For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. Now I can’t look at Bear without knowing I’ll never see his face again. I’m still collecting my thoughts and thank you for all your kind words and texts. 'Wake me up when it’s all over,' because I don’t want it to be real #ripavicii."

Emily shared 10 photos of her with Avicii — real name Tim Bergling — while they dated, where the couple seemed very much in love as they cuddled up on each other and shared kisses. She followed up her post with a screenshot of an old text message conversation between her and Avicii, where they said "I love you" to each other.

But Avicii's fans slammed Emily in the comments, accusing her of using Avicii's death to become famous or gain followers. "Please people!! Do not make her famous!! She doesn’t deserve it. Disrespectful posts from her side…" one fan wrote, and another commented, "If you were truly with him you wouldn’t have named him int"o parentheses (Avicii) !!! Like you don’t now with whom are you taking to?? And stop looking for attention!!! Respect him for once!!"
