Earlier this week, news broke that production on ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise had been suspended in the wake of allegations of misconduct — but this isn’t the first time the show has been rocked by scandal.
Among The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and BiP, ABC has aired 37 seasons of the franchise since the first show aired back in 2002. And with romance and reality TV comes drama — sometimes more than anyone would like.
Bachelor Nation goes there, Degrassi-style, but from affairs with producers to sex on screen to threats of physical violence, sometimes it goes a little too far.
On JoJo Fletcher‘s season of The Bachelorette, contestant Chad Johnson told other competitors, “I’m going to cut everyone here’s legs off, and arms off, and there’s gonna be torsos, and then I’m gonna throw them in the pool.” After JoJo sent him home, he went out of his way to taunt the contestants even more, posting a photo of himself kissing Robby Hayes’ ex on Instagram.
And that was all before he even stepped foot in Paradise, where things really heated up as Chad threatened, “I’ll murder everyone here. I’ll kill your children and murder your family,” then followed it up with, “Dolla, dolla bills, yo.”
