In the new issue of Life & Style, on stands tomorrow, friends of The Bachelor star Gia Allemand share their grief and explain why no one could have guessed anything was wrong in the days leading up to her shocking suicide.
“This makes no sense,” her Bachelor co-star and friend Ella Nolan tells Life & Style. “Gia was in love with life. She wasn’t the kind of girl who’d want to end that. I’m in shock.”
The 29-year-old Long Island, N.Y., native had talked optimistically about what the future held for her. “She was excited about where her life was going, saying how she couldn’t wait to be a mommy one day,” Ella adds.
Jake Pavelka, who sent Gia home on his season of The Bachelor, also tells the mag, “Gia was a dear friend and one of the sweetest women I know.” After hearing the tragic news, he said, “I can’t stop crying. We have lost an angel.”
Though reports claim Gia suffered from depression, was having problems with her boyfriend, NBA star Ryan Anderson, and was abusing prescription pills, those who knew her best insist that no one could have seen the tragedy coming.
“There were no warning signs for me,” Gia’s close friend Craig Robinson tells Life & Style. “She was coming to Philadelphia with Ryan for a charity event I host. They had their flights booked. When I spoke to her, she was fine.”
Despite the rumors of a turbulent relationship with Ryan, the basketball player tells Life & Style, “Gia had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed.”
