After weeks and weeks of waiting, Bachelor Nation finally found out who won The Bachelorette finale on August 6. Becca Kufrin seemed to have a terribly hard time picking between the final two men — Garrett Yrigoyen and Blake Horstmann — but in the end, she went with the man who stole her heart on night one… and got the first impression rose! That’s right, Garrett was the last man standing, which means Becca is following the lead of her fellow Bachelorettes Rachel Lindsay, JoJo Fletcher, and Kaitlyn Bristowe in giving the first impression rose to the guy she ends up with in the end! What can we say? We love a lady who knows exactly what she wants!

During the three-hour finale, Becca sent Blake home with an emotional goodbye. The runner up joined Chris Harrison in the hot seat immediately after to convey how surprised he was and hurt by her decision. “In that moment, I wanted her to know how madly in love I was with her,” he explained. “I’ll always have love for Becca … I truly think it was her choice to make and I truly hope she found that happiness.”

So what do we know about the man who took home the final rose? Even though Garrett currently lives in Reno, he won Becca over in the first episode when he gave her a fishing tackle and the two went “fishing” in the pool at the mansion. Immediately, our leading lady was charmed by the outdoorsman — who boasted about his love of fly fishing, hiking, and snowshoeing in his ABC bio — saying that his midwestern upbringing reminded her of “home.”

Unfortunately, his time in the spotlight was plagued by controversy. At the start of the season, the medical sales rep came under fire when it was revealed that he “liked” Instagram posts that were transphobic, and supported the idea that one of the survivors of the Parkland, FL, school shooting was a crisis actor. The posts first garnered the attention of Bachelor Nation when former contestant Ashley Spivey posted them on her Twitter account, comparing the Season 14 winner to Lee Garrett, who was ousted for his own racist tweets while competing for Rachel Lindsay’s heart during Season 13.

However, the star has since apologized with a lengthy post on Instagram.
