Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae
Season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht found chief engineer Colin without a girlfriend back home for the first time in three seasons. He and chief stew Daisy found themselves drawn into a full-on boatmance.
“I knew Colin was single and there’s kind of always been something between me and Colin. So, in a way I was surprised, but I also wasn’t surprised, if that makes sense,” she told In Touch exclusively ahead of the season premiere.
“There were little moments that we’d like maybe brush hands or look at each other that I don’t think anyone else really picked up on. But I would kind of be like, oh a moment that lasted a little bit longer and it’s like, ‘is this something?’” she explained, adding, “But he always had a girlfriend, so I always just friend zoned in the whole situation and never kind of expected anything more.”
The pair went from making out to sleeping in each other’s bunks in no time flat. But their bliss hit a major roadbump when Daisy revealed that she and first mate Gary King slept together twice after season 3 ended.
“You f–ked Gary?” Colin asked her incredulously, telling her it was “bulls–t” that they secretly hooked up and neither Daisy nor Gary told him before the pair embarked on a relationship.
“The chemistry that they have, the way that they look at each other, I thought it was all friends. It all makes sense now,” an angry Colin said in a confessional.
Gary, who was hooking up with junior stew Mads Herrera during the season, assuring Colin there was nothing going on between him and Daisy, despite the two having playful hugs and kisses. After much consideration, Colin agreed to continue his boatmance with the Dublin native after she assured him there was nothing going on with her longtime crew mate. But things came to a head in the June 19, 2023, episode when she accidentally called Colin “Gary” while the pair were in bed.
He stormed out of the bunk and Daisy later explained to Gary of the love triangle, “There’s two of you in my head. You’re both f–king with my head. I want you out of my head.”
“In regard to worrying about their friendship, I did worry. I definitely didn’t want to break up a friendship or anything like that. That’s the last thing I would’ve wanted. I was kind of expecting Gary to maybe kick off a bit, but not quite to the extent he did,” Daisy explained in her exclusive interview.
