While Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds like to keep their personal lives private for the most part, they have dished a few things here and there about their four children. Keep reading for everything you need to know about the gorgeous couple and their tight-knit family.
How Many Kids Do Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Share?
It all started when Blake and Ryan began dating in late 2011. By the following year, they tied the knot. Then, two years later, they welcomed their first child in December 2014 — James Reynolds. The couple chose the name James as a way to honor of Ryan’s dad who passed away in 2015. “It felt right,” the Deadpool actor told Mr. Porter in 2018.
Ryan didn’t always have the best relationship with his father. However, thanks to his wife’s help, he was able to patch things up before his passing after his battle with Parkinson’s disease. “All family relationships come with some complications,” he told the outlet. “For better or worse, all roads lead to here. At the end of the day, it’s easier to focus on the good stuff than the bad. My father died soon after my daughter was born, but he got to see her, which makes me happy.”
In September 2016, the duo welcomed their second daughter, Inez Reynolds. Neither Blake nor Ryan have revealed the inspiration behind her name, but they did give it a unique spelling. “I had a new baby, Inez, with a ‘z’ even though everyone says it’s with an ‘s,’ the Gossip Girl alum told People in 2018. “I don’t know why, please tell Wikipedia.”
Blake and Ryan welcomed their third daughter in October 2019. However initially, they kept the exciting news to themselves.
On October 16, Ryan finally took to social media to confirm their newest bundle of joy was in fact here, revealing they had another girl. “I love B.C. I want my daughters to experience the same natural playground I grew up in,” he tweeted a photo with Blake carrying their newborn, who’s face was blurred out. The A-list couple later revealed her name as Betty Reynolds.
The actress announced she was expecting again in September 2022 after debuting her bump at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit. She gave fans a glimpse into her pregnancy via social media. In February 2023, the couple quietly welcomed their fourth child. The couple has yet to reveal the moniker or gender of baby No. 4.
Ryan opened up on the transition from three to four kids in April 2023, telling ET Canada that it hasn’t been as hard as he expected.
“You know, two to three was a huge jump…three to four less so,” the Deadpool actor said. “I cannot speak for my wife, but it’s just from what I’ve observed. But we love it. You know, we would be idiots to do this again if we didn’t love it.”
Do Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Have Any Sons?
In May 2019, a source exclusively told Life & Style that Ryan was hoping to have a boy.
“Ryan says he’s outnumbered at home,” the insider explained. “He’s trying to even the playing field, so a son would be great.”
