Since splitting from Angelina Jolie, the 53-year-old actor has stopped drinking alcohol and started therapy and sources reveal exclusively to Life & Style that Brad recently reached out to Jen to apologize for the first time since their divorce in 2005.
"Brad apologized for all the heartbreak,” an insider says. “He doesn’t usually open up like that, but through therapy and recovery, he’s learned to express his feelings. He addressed all the hurt he caused her.”

When news of Brangelina's divorce broke, Jen's best friend Chelsea Handler spoke out and revealed that she was not interested in the news.
"I don't think Jen cares about what's going on and it's crazy that people think she does," she said. "As if she's sitting around caring about [Angelina]. I know I don't."
However, despite the Friends actress' anger toward Brad, especially after he posed with Angelina as a happily married couple for W magazine shortly after Brad and Jennifer's relationship ended, “she was really won over by his apology,” the source explains. “A new era has begun for them.”
A second insider adds, "She was incredibly receptive to the amends he was making. She told him she forgives him and to focus on the future.”
While Jennifer is preparing to celebrate two years of marriage to Justin Theroux, Brad is just now opening up about his pending divorce from Angelina and how their six kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne are coping.
"Well, there's a lot to tell them because there's understanding the future, there's understanding the immediate moment and why we're at this point, and then it brings up a lot of issues from the past that we haven't talked about," he told GQ. "So our focus is that everyone comes out stronger and better people — there is no other outcome."
