Calling it quits. The Hills: New Beginnings star Brody Jenner and his wife, Kaitlynn Carter, have decided to end their relationship, In Touch can confirm. “They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward,” Brody’s rep Scott Newman tells In Touch in a statement on Friday, August 2. Both have been spotted without their rings in recent weeks.

Back in June 2018, Brody, 35, and Kaitlynn, 30, exchanged their vows during a lavish ceremony in Indonesia, however, it’s now been revealed they were never actually “legally married.” The pair apparently never followed up to get a marriage license in America, according to Us Weekly. The outlet also reports Kaitlynn has already moved out of their shared Malibu home.

The exes opened up about the peaks and pitfalls in their marriage on the latest season of the MTV reboot. During one tense scene, Kaitlynn confronted her now-ex over his claim that they were in an “open relationship,” and she also got upset by his thoughts on starting a family.

“While I don’t have kids I’m gonna pretty much do what I wanna do and live for myself, as opposed to live for another human being,” Brody said while venting his frustrations on the premiere episode. “I think that’s why she wants kids, she wants me to change in that way.”

The former flames, who got engaged in 2016, appeared to be going strong in June as they both took to Instagram to celebrate their anniversary. “One year ago today I married the love of my life and best friend. Cheers to us my love,” Brody wrote. Kaitlynn also shared a romantic post of her own, captioned, “Happy 1 year wedding anniversary to my husband!!! I’ll save the mushy stuff for him, but in honor of the occasion, here are some new photos from our rehearsal night.”
