Sorry, Burger King. We're not impressed.
Everyone is talking about the fast food chain's new limited edition Lucky Charms shake — and we risked a diabetic coma to try the milkshake that promises to take us back to our childhood.
Instead of nostalgic bliss, we got a sad looking vanilla shake with barely any marshmallows and definitely not enough rainbow coloring to impress our Instagram followers. And let's face it, that's the whole point of drinking the ice cream version of the magically delicious cereal.
Described as "hand-spun deliciousness" by Burger King, it fails to live up to its high expectations set by other "magical drinks" sparked by the recent popularity of the Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino.
If you're still tempted to try the shake, which is a mixture of marshmallow cereal flavored syrup, Lucky Charms toppings, soft serve mix, and whipped cream, we suggest you don't look at the nutritional facts beforehand.
The one-size-fits-all drink has 740 calories and 107g of sugar. To put that into perspective, that is nearly half your daily calories and more than four times the recommended amount of sugar for an adult.
@BurgerKing The Lucky Charms shake isn't bad, but would be better if it were just the marshmallows.— St Pam of the Errata (@Saint_Pam) June 20, 2017
I love Lucky Charms but don't think that shake is a good idea lol I'll pass— Petty Proud (@koatnay) June 20, 2017
I think my sugar levels just tripled by reading about this. I like Lucky Charms as a cereal, but as a shake...well...YECCHHH! https://t.co/SwiSGJI4AW— Karen C (@Huntress62) June 20, 2017
While the shake does taste just like the cereal, we would prefer our Lucky Charms in a bowl with milk where they belong.
Despite mixed reviews, loyal BK fans are lining up and taking over social media to share their excitement about the new addition to the menu.
"Hey is the lucky charms shake any good? 'No' 'I'll take two,'" one customer wrote on Twitter, while another added, "Just what you didn't know you needed in your life...#LuckyCharmsShake!"
And if Lucky Charms was not your thing growing up, you can also try the chain's Froot Loops Shake, which promises just as much hand-spun perfection with a high chance of a sugar overdose.
