The 2017 Grammys was certainly a star-studded event — but there were a few A-listers noticeably absent from the audience!
Performers like Justin Bieber and Drake had multiple nominations, but still ditched music's biggest night. And though fans were hoping that this red carpet would mark the first public appearance for new couple Selena Gomez and The Weeknd, the former Disney star was a no show.
While some celebs were on tour in another country, others were simply chilling at home, watching the awards on TV like the rest of us!
Scroll through the gallery below to see which big names weren't at the Grammys — and why!

Gwen Stefani
The blonde beauty took to Instagram late on Sunday night to post a photo from her bed. The snap featured a shot of the singer on television in a Revlon ad. “#ImOnTV!” she captioned the pic. Our best guess is that she watched the Grammys from the comfort of her own home!

Blake Shelton
Since his sweetheart, Gwen, was in bed, we can’t help but think the Voice coach was right by her side! The country singer has a performance on Thursday, Feb. 16, in California, so maybe he was resting up for that.

Miley Cyrus
In a series of Instagram posts, Miley revealed that she would not be attending the Grammys because she was being a good doggy mom! “Why aren't you at the Grammys they ask? Cuz I f–king loooooove dogs!” the singer captioned one pic. The self-proclaimed “Happy Hippy” looked as relaxed as ever during “date night” with her pups.

Justin Bieber
Even though Justin was nominated for four Grammys, he was a no show at the awards ceremony. TMZ reported that the singer made a conscious decision to skip this year. A source revealed, “he just doesn't think the Grammys are relevant or representative, especially when it comes to young singers.” Justin did make an appearance on social media, however. In a throwback pic, he's cuddled up next to a baby, presumably his little bro Jaxon. So maybe the “Sorry” singer was just laying low with family!

Drake
The rapper wasn't in attendance because he's on tour in Europe! The “One Dance” singer did, however, pay homage to his eight nominations in a funny Instagram post. Drizzy posted a picture of himself wearing a giant CeeLo Green chain, captioning the snap, “Me and my chain are just here to collect the trophies for Work and Anti…howbowdah.” Though “Work” didn’t bring home the Grammy, he did snag Best Rap Song for “Hotline Bling.”

Kanye West
Kanye was unable to make it to the Grammys because the rapper was fulfilling his role as a fashion designer during New York Fashion Week. Mother-in-law Kris Jenner spoke to Us Weekly about why the father-of-two would not be present. “The truth is he’s got a big fashion show in New York because it’s New York Fashion Week. And my entire family is back there," she said. "Some of the kids are on their way tomorrow. He’s got a lot of work to do. We wish he could be here!”

Frank Ocean
The singer surprised fans when he didn't even bother to submit his album, Blonde, for consideration at this year's Grammys, as it would've surely nabbed a nom for Album of the Year. A source told TMZ that Frank "says he thinks the Grammys are a dinosaur that doesn't represent young, black artists.” We guess this means the 29-year-old wasn't watching from home, either!

Kelly Clarkson
Though fans expected the American Idol alum to be in attendance at this year's Grammys, she revealed why she couldn't make it via Twitter. In a Tweet from Sunday, Feb. 12, Kelly confirmed exciting plans. "Congrats [Adele] on Pop Solo Performance #grammys2017," she wrote. "And sorry fans, I'm recording and not in LA for Grammy's! Next year #newalbum2017.”

Selena Gomez
While Selena didn't attend the Grammys, she was spotted at an after party with boyfriend The Weeknd. The couple has kept their relationship relatively low-key, so maybe the brunette beauty wasn't ready to make a red carpet appearance with her beau.
