Celebrities Who Have Refused to Go Naked for the Camera: Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, More

Sarah Jessica Parker

In a November 2016 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Sex and the City alum noted she has a no-nudity clause in her contract.

“I don’t have any judgment about anyone who chooses to do it,” Sarah explained. “I think it’s fantastic that people feel comfortable doing it. It’s not some kind of principled position or religious or ideological on my part.”

While speaking with Howard Stern in June 2023, Sarah explained the reason why she refused to strip down for her sex scenes in Sex and the City.

“I never had any judgements about anybody else doing it,” she said. “The only thing I was concerned about was that I just didn’t feel comfortable doing nudity. I suspected that if it wasn’t in the pilot, it would be a part of a series.”

She then recalled show creator Darren Star telling her if she wasn’t comfortable with filming naked scenes, then she did “not have to.”

Kaley Cuoco

The Based on a True Story actress revealed to USA Today in June 2023 that she had a body double perform her sex scenes for the Peacock film.

“I don’t roll that way. I need someone else to do that stuff,” she revealed. “I’m past that. I’m not doing that anymore. … Also, who wants to see that? Not my thing. I’d rather let someone else do it, and that’s what’s movie magic [is for]. We don’t have to do those things anymore. We can have someone else do it, and we can fake our way through.”

Jameela Jamil

The British actress told Screen Rant in May 2023 that she backed out of You’s season 4 auditions because she didn’t want to film sex scenes.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been someone who would have enjoyed objectifying myself, personally,” she began. “But that’s also because I have so much deep, like, childhood sexual trauma stuff. So, I think that was never in the cards for me. You know, I still wear the, like, the little skirt or the busty top, but like, occasionally. But generally, I feel quite protective of myself in that way. Like, I don’t do sex scenes. In fact, I was supposed to audition for the most recent season of your show. My character was supposed to be quite sexy, and I pulled out of the audition, because I am so shy about anything sexy that I can’t.”

Rachel McAdams

During an April 2023 interview with Bustle, the Notebook star revealed that she walked out of a photo shoot in 2006 for Vanity Fair’s cover. After arriving, Rachel learned that two women agreed to pose nude for the camera, which she didn’t agree to. 

Megan Fox

The Transformers star told The Mirror in May 2016 that her sons are the reasons why she refuses to bare it all on camera.

“There are some good projects I’ve read that are with talented people, talented directors, but the things the women are required to do in the movie are things I can’t have my sons ever know or see,” Megan said. “There are just certain things boys should never see their mothers do.”

Jessica Simpson

Jessica staunchly disagrees with performing any naked scenes, as she told Allure in February 2010 she would “never do nudity.”

“I don’t care how dark and intellectual the role could be, you know?” she explained. “I don’t care if I frickin’ get an Oscar for it, I’m not going to do it. Those accolades mean nothing to me.”

Anna Kendrick

Although she appeared in raunchy films such as Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Anna used a body double for that sexy movie and explained to The Telegraph why she turns down performing her own naked scenes.

“I will not do that,” she said in July 2010. “I am not criticizing people who do [nude scenes], but I plan to keep doing what I am doing and hope it keeps going good.”

Jessica Alba

Despite having performed in several sexy roles in the past, Jessica explained why she doesn’t want to strip in any film roles.

“I don’t want my grandparents to see my boobs. That’s it. It would be weird at Christmas,” she told Glamour in May 2014. “And, I mean, really, if you look at the movies I have done, getting naked would never ‘elevate’ the picture.”

Jennifer Garner

In September 2009, Jennifer told MTV that she would “not be taking it all off” anytime soon when promoting her film at the time, The Invention of Lying.

Blake Lively

Before she broke her no-nudity rule for her 2017 film All I See Is You, Blake refused to show her full body on screen.

“When I see nudity in movies, I am always distracted by it,” she told the Daily Mail in August 2012. “I know that if I am watching a scene and someone has their boobs out, then that’s all I’m looking at — I can’t help it. I just don’t think that will ever be right for me.”

Hilary Duff

The former Disney Channel star previously told The Telegraph that she doesn’t favor nudity for her own roles.

“If I do a movie, I want to be myself. I don’t want to take my top off or anything,” Hilary said. “In the States, it seems it’s the trend to turn 18 or 19, and then take your shirt off and do something crazy, and I don’t know what comes after that.”

Ashley Benson

The Pretty Little Liars alum discussed her aversion to nudity in a January 2014 interview with Cosmopolitan.

“I never want to do nudity that’s gratuitous,” Ashley said. “Girls look so much better in lingerie or a tee shirt and leave the rest up to the imagination. I remember we were filming Spring Breakers with this girl who was topless, and I tried to have a serious conversation with her. Why would you want to go topless for a film that you may not even be paid for? But some people will do anything to get out there. It’s crazy that someone can make millions of dollars and have a whole career from a sex tape.”
