Courteney Cox Admits That Getting Fillers in Her Face Was a Really Bad Idea

After years of getting fillers in her face, Courteney Cox finally admitted that she took things too far in the plastic surgery department. In an interview with NewBeauty magazine, the 53-year-old said, “I grew up thinking that appearance was the most important thing. That’s kind of sad because it got me in trouble. I was trying so hard to keep up, and I actually made things worse.”

The actress tried to combat aging by getting touch-ups here and there. “Well, what would end up happening is that you go to a doctor who would say, ‘You look great, but what would help is a little injection here or filler there,'” she explained. “The next thing you know, you’re layered and layered and layered.”

Fans were particularly shocked when Courteney stepped out at the Friends cast reunion in February 2016. “You have no idea [how it really looks] because it’s gradual until you go, ‘Oh s–t, this doesn’t look right,'” she said. “And it’s worse in pictures than in real life.”

The mother-of-one confessed that she’s since had all the fillers dissolved. “I’m as natural as I can be,” she revealed. “I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do.”

Courteney continued, “Things are going to change. Everything’s going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles — they’re smile lines. I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realize that fillers are not my friend.”

Thankfully, for the most part, the mother-of-one doesn’t let life in the limelight affect her self esteem. “I feel lucky. I don’t feel burdened by it. I mean, people can be pretty mean, though, now that there’s all this social media. The comments … if I ever want to feel really bad about myself, I just click on one of those,” she said.
