For years, Friends fans have been desperately hoping for a reboot of the hit 90s show. And while the cast has shut down remake rumors time and time again, one star, Courteney Cox, just confessed she’d “do anything to be in a room acting” again with pals Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc.

“People ask us all the time, ‘Will we ever do a remake?’ That was a story about these group of people that are friends in their 30s who are finding themselves. I don’t know if there’s a way to redo it,” the 54-year-old actress — who portrayed Monica Geller on all 10 seasons of Friends from 1994 until 2004 — said at the Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program Luncheon in NYC on Monday, Oct. 15, according to People.

“I just don’t see it happening. Even though I would do anything to be in a room with all of those people acting and having a great time. But I don’t see it happening,” Courteney added.

During a previous interview with TV WEEK, Matt — who famously played Joey Tribbiani on the beloved series — agreed that a Friends reboot likely won’t ever make it to the small screen. “I don’t think that will happen. I have spoken to everyone involved in the decision to come back and do Friends and I have heard all the rumors myself that you have all heard.”

“I think Friends was about a finite period in your life when school ends and before you sort of settle down and start having a family,” Matt explained. “And that is when your friends are really a family and that is what that show was about, roughly about that ten-year block in time in people’s lives.”

“To go back and revisit those characters now, A) I don’t know what the story would be, and B) they have all moved on from that period on their lives and it’s just not the same,” he added. “I would assume that they still keep in touch, all those characters, but it’s not the same. So it’s kind of like ‘the book is better than the movie!’” We’ll still keep our fingers crossed for a Friends reboot in the future!
