Nothing makes you appreciate what you have more than almost losing someone you love. In February 2017, Jamie Lynn Spears got the fright of her life when her daughter Maddie was involved in an ATV crash that nearly took her life. Jamie Lynn reflected on the horrifying experience on Dec. 18, and her message was so touching.

"The hardest milestone me and my family have ever faced was almost losing our beautiful Maddie," she wrote on Instagram as part of her #12DaysOfJLS. "But thanks to God and the two angels in this picture we were able to celebrate Maddie turning 9 years old all together. This milestone became a true miracle, and we are forever grateful for that." The sweet message accompanied a photo of Maddie grinning beside two of the medical professionals that helped save her life.

It's no wonder why Jamie Lynn is feeling extra grateful this Christmas season after everything she went through in the last year. Her 9-year-old had been riding an off-road vehicle when it flipped over into a lake, pinning her underwater for several minutes. She was quickly airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans, LA. At the time, aunt Britney Spears begged fans for support, saying "need all the wishes and prayers for my niece."

Maddie was unconscious for three days, finally waking up on Tuesday, Feb. 7. She was able to leave the hospital just three days later on Feb. 10. "Thanks to the amazing first responders, and medical teams at University and Children's Hospital in New Orleans, LA," wrote Jamie Lynn in the caption of a photo of the family boarding a helicopter to finally go home to heal. "We are headed home with our baby girl as she continues to recover,' Jamie Lynn wrote on Instagram. It was definitely a miracle that Maddie survived, and we're so happy to see the family get to spend the holiday together.
