There are two sides to every story. That's what Jason Kennedy's wife Lauren Scruggs is saying when it comes to the E! News anchor's ongoing gender pay gap dispute with former co-worker Catt Sadler.

Catt, 43, recently quit from her position at the cable entertainment news outlet after she discovered Jason, 36, was making double her salary — despite the fact that they both started at the network at the same time 12 years ago. However, Lauren is adamant her hubby is not to blame for Catt's headline-making exit.

"I believe in female empowerment and gender equality, but it’s heartbreaking that a network is being deemed sexist when that is simply not true. At one time my husband had a female co-anchor on E! News who made three times his salary," she said, alluding to Giuliana Rancic. "Women are paid accordingly on this network, and the difference in his salary versus hers did not affect Jason. He knows there are always more components to consider when determining one’s salary than gender alone."

She went on to quote an E! spokesperson, who stated that Jason and Catt's roles were not comparable and remind fans that he was named a permanent co-host two years ago. "Jason is the most tender-hearted and respectful person and it’s so sad to see him unfairly publicly shamed. His name has been dragged through the mud regarding nothing he did, except be a great friend and colleague," Lauren, 29, continued. "It absolutely breaks my heart to watch, and it is devastating and frustrating to see how this all played out. I will always stand on truth, and I cannot stand by and be silent when the foundation of a story that affects my family is not based on that."

At the time of her exit, Catt also reassured her followers that she did not blame Jason for her decision to leave. “I have two decades experience in broadcasting and started at the network the very same year as my close friend and colleague that I adore,” she said. “I so lovingly refer to him as my ‘tv husband’ and I mean it. But how can I operate with integrity and stay on at E! if they’re not willing to pay me the same as him? Or at least come close?” Who do you think is to blame?
