Her love don’t cost a thing … but her engagement ring sure does! On Saturday, March 9, Alex Rodriguez proposed to longtime girlfriend Jennifer Lopez with a seriously massive diamond. Speaking exclusively with Life & Style, Kathryn Money, VP, Strategy and Merchandising at Brilliant Earth, dished on just how magnificent Jenny from the Block’s new rock really is — including what the former MLB star, 43, might have paid for it.

“J. Lo’s stunning engagement ring from A-Rod appears to feature a 12-15 carat emerald cut diamond in a classic solitaire white gold or platinum setting,” Kathryn surmised. “The elegant simplicity of the ring’s design allows the gorgeous, show-stopping center diamond to be the focal point.”

The focal point, indeed! Fans of the singer, 49, were basically dumbfounded after Jennifer revealed a snapshot of the ring on Instagram. “OK, I’ll be the ring bearer. I’m so happy for you guys!” one user commented. “LOOK AT THIS RING,” added another.

“Depending on the quality and specific characteristics of the diamond, we estimate the cost of the ring could easily be over $1 million USD,” Kathryn revealed. As to whether Alex’s choice was trendy or not? Well, let’s just say he hit it out of the park. “Fancy cut (non-round) gemstones are becoming increasingly popular, and many celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Katherine Schwarzenegger, Karlie Kloss and Lea Michele have recently opted for this particular trend,” Kathryn explained.
