Is Kanye West’s Porn Addiction the Reason for His Creepy Kardashian Obsession?

His addiction started when he was in fifth grade.

In his late mother's book, Raising Kanye, Donda West described catching her son with a dirty magazine. "I’ll never forget the day he took the X-rated magazine to school [and] was passing it around for the other boys to see and the teacher caught him," she wrote. "When she asked him where he’d gotten the magazine, he said, ‘From my mother’s closet!’ . . . Before I knew it, I’d lost my temper and smacked him across the face."

By his teen years, Kanye was back to it again when his mother found an X-rated tape in the VCR. "It was triple-X-rated and I was mad as hell," she wrote. To punish him, she made him write a paper on "The Impact of Watching X-rated Movies on a Teenage Boy." The punishment clearly didn't work.

He admitted to spending tons of cash on porn.

After Kanye finally made it as a rapper, he made his mom his manager. However, the downside to having a momager was that she saw all his expenses, including the insane amount of money he spent on adult videos. "[My mother] is my manager, and that can be tricky sometimes," he told Time Out in 2005. "She's like: 'Kanye, did you spend $500 at the porn store?' Yeah, I did, but come on, get the f–k out of here! I’m 28 years old, and I have to explain to my mother?"

He originally wanted to be a porn star.

Back in 2007, he admitted to thinking about being an adult entertainment star back when his career was still struggling. "That career choice popped into my head once or twice," he said. "Which guy doesn't want that? Just sometimes in their life. This was my mentality before I was engaged [to then-girlfriend Alexis Phifer]."

He watches so much porn, he watches it with the sound off.

On Kocktails With Khloé, Kanye admitted to this strange watching quirk. “I’ve never watched porn with the sound on," he admitted. He then explained the habit formed in his teen years. "Well, I lived with my mom in high school, then I lived in my mother-in-law's house. There's kids next door and stuff."

And because he watches so much porn (with the sound off), Kanye has admitted that he doesn't even watch for the sex anymore but the plot. "I am all about the storyline," he has said. "I like when they have good storylines.”

If you're going to work for Kanye, be prepared to watch graphic porn with him while on the job.

When Nicki Minaj first met Kanye, she was surprised to see the rapper had porn playing on his computer in the studio. "I go to the studio and he has nothing but pictures of naked women on his computer that he’d invite me to look at," she told Complex. "They were really artsy pictures, but you know he loves nudity, so it was a complete shock to me, ’cause I thought I had him all figured out, but I didn’t. He was watching porn when we were in the studio—no shame in his game."

Another musician who worked with him had a similar (although more bizarre) experience. Rapper Ninja, from the South African group Die Antwoord, said Kanye abruptly turned on porn while the two were supposed to be chatting about a music collaboration. "As soon as I’m about to say the s–t about the track, Kanye just like turns away and switches on a f–king bum, like an a– sex video," he described in a video for Viceland. After the encounter, Ninja said he blocked Kanye's number because he was "too weird."

He allegedly watched Kim's sex tape.

Before they became husband and wife, Kanye was obsessed with the sex tape Kim made with ex-boyfriend Ray J. According to TMZ, Kanye would watch the video before he had sex to "get in the mood." If we were Kim, we'd be so creeped out right now.

And the weird connection between porn and Kim continued when, in 2015, news broke that an old sex tape between Kanye and a young Kim lookalike had leaked. Although Kanye allegedly paid money to keep the video private, he spoke about the tape to W Magazine a year later. "For the most part, I’d rather people have one of those home videos than some of the paparazzi photos that get published,” he said. “At least I recorded the s–t myself. That tape couldn’t have hurt me in any way if it came out—it could only have helped."

Helped? We're sure Kanye's wife thinks differently.
