Yikes. Fans were so excited on May 8 when Kat Von D revealed that she was expecting her first child, but that excitement quickly turned to horror on June 7 when she announced that she's anti-vaccination, and refused to immunize her baby. Now, former fans of her beauty products are saying they never plan to buy from her company again.

"I was prepared for the backlash and criticism we would get if we decided to be open about our personal approach to our pregnancy," said Kat, going on to explain that she was sick of having people roast her for "being an openly pregnant vegan on Instagram, having a natural, drug-free home birth in water with a midwife and doula, who has the intention of raising a vegan child." And most fans were with her up until that point, since those are personal choices regarding just you and your child, and no one likes a mom-shamer. Then she added that she was also anti-vaccination.

"There's no way we're vaccinating our baby," she wrote in a comment to a fan that warned her that vaccinations aren't vegan. When another fan asked if that was why she wasn't doing it, she said she's choosing not to immunize "for several reasons. After much research, we feel vaccinations are not safe, and seem to be pushed by an insutry whose interest is not in the wellbeing of mankind."

I knew the minute we announced our pregnancy that we would be bombarded with unsolicited advice. Some good and some questionable – unsolicited none the less. I also was prepared for the backlash and criticism we would get if we decided to be open about our personal approach to our pregnancy. My own Father flipped out on me when I told him we decided to ditch our doctor and go with a midwife instead. If you don’t know what it’s like have people around you think you are ridiculous, try being openly vegan. And, if you don’t know what it’s like to have the entire world openly criticize, judge, throw uninformed opinions, and curse you – try being an openly pregnant vegan on Instagram, having a natural, drug-free home birth in water with a midwife and doula, who has the intention of raising a vegan child, without vaccinations. My point being: I already know what it’s like to make life choices that are not the same as the majority. So your negative comments are not going influence my choices – actual research and educating myself will – which i am diligently doing. This is my body. This is our child. And this is our pregnancy journey. Feel free to follow me on here if you like what I’m about – whether it’s tattooing, lipstick, Animal Rights, sobriety, feminism, ridiculous gothiness, black flower gardening, cats, or my adorable husband. But if you don’t dig a certain something about what I post, i kindly ask that you press the unfollow button and move the fuck on. So before anyone of you feel inspired to tell me how to do this, I would appreciate you keeping your unsolicited criticism to yourself. More importantly, for those who have amazing positive energy to send my way, I will gladly and graciously receive it with love! X

Well, fans (and the Center for Disease Control) strongly disagree, and it could cost her thousands of customers. "I was with Kat Von D’s natural vegan pregnancy and birth until she said she wasn’t going to vaccinate her child. Done. No more Kat Von D cosmetics for me," said one fan. Another agreed, "Is it wrong that reading that Kat Von D is choosing to not vaccinate her kid makes me not want to buy anything from her brand again? I guess I found my line in the sand as far as what makes me take a stand." This fan was outraged that she would put other children at risk: "Kat Von D really whined about how attacked she feels about being a pregnant vegan, and how she’s not gonna vaccinate her kids. You all for animal life but you gonna risk other kids lives because you avoid vaccination? B—h bye."

It sounds like Kat expected the backlash and doesn't really care. "My own father flipped out on me when I told him we decided to ditch our doctor and go with a midwife instead," she admitted. "I already know what it’s like to make life choices that are not the same as the majority. So your negative comments are not going influence my choices, actual research and educating myself will, which I am diligently doing. This is my body. This is our child. And this is our pregnancy journey."

Kat did find a little positivity and support in the beauty industry. Kandee Johnson commented on her controversial post, saying, "I love this!! I love you! I love your choices. I love Rafael. And I love lil baby boy already!" Kat's parting words to the haters? "If you don’t dig a certain something about what I post, I kindly ask that you press the unfollow button and move the f–k on."
