Try as she might, Kendall Jenner just can't avoid controversy! Kenny is easily the quietest in the KarJenner family. She mostly keeps to herself, does her fashion thang, and keeps her personal life quiet. Despite all that, she's been involved in a number of scandals and controversial moments, from starring in a music video with woman-beater Chris Brown to pushing someone at the Met. Scroll down to relive the worst with us!
The Pepsi commercial debacle
This is easily the most famous of Kendall's controversies. In April 2017, Kendall starred in a commercial for Pepsi. Considering it was still the first few months of Trump being president, social tension was high. Fans were horrified when she acted as a go-between for protesters and police, solving the potential confrontation by simply handing a cop a soda. Hours later, the ad was removed, and fans were attacking Kenny for accepting the "tone-deaf" role.
“I trusted everyone. I trusted the teams,” said Kendall of the faux-pas on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. “But after I saw the reaction and I read what people had to say about it, I most definitely saw what went wrong. I was so stuck, and I really didn’t know what to do, that I completely shut down.”
That time she was in an athletic Adidas ad
The Pepsi snafu wasn't the only ad that caused her a headache. In August of 2017, she starred in an Adidas ad, where she said "I did what I had to do. I faced it all, and I stood tall. I did it my my way," while wearing athletic wear. Fans were pissed because they felt that a real athlete would better represent the brand, and they would rather see a stronger body type than a thin model. They also felt that Ken didn't fit the "original" theme of the ad.
The time she wore a huge fur coat
Many of the Kardashians have been called out for this, but fans were particularly angry when Kendall wore a huge fur coat from DSquared2 at Milan Fashion Week in January of 2018. "This coat!" wrote Kendall excitedly along with a slew of photos she posted on Twitter. People were diaappointed to see her promoting a company that killed so many animals, and one fan wrote, "whether people say it's the designer's fault for making it, she knew full well it was real and therefore is promoting the product."
When she was dragged into Blake Griffin's palimony lawsuit
Kendall plays it close to the vest when it comes to her relaitonships, but pretty much everyone knew she was dating Blake Griffin. That includes his baby mama Brynn Cameron, who mentioned Kendall in a 2018 palimony lawsuit where she claimed that "[Blake] cruelly embarrassed his family with his public fawning over Kendall Jenner. [He] cared more about the glamour of dating a Hollywood celebrity than the day-to-day responsibilities of being a father and family man." Obviously this isn't Kenny's fault, but she got sucked in nonetheless.
Those "disrespectful Tupac/Biggie t-shirts
In July 2017, Kendall and Kylie offered "custom" t-shirts, where they basically slapped their initials or faces over images of rappers like Tupac and Biggie Smalls. Fans found this entirely disrespectful, since Kendall has nothing to do with rap culture and both men had passed away. "Kendall Jenner put a selfie of herself over a picture of Tupac and Biggie onto a Tee shirt. The amount of disrespect is sickening 😷" said a hater.
