Lady Gaga Responds to Body Shamers Who Criticized Her Belly During the Super Bowl
Lady Gaga doesn’t care what anyone has to say about her belly — especially haters who dissed the singer’s figure after her memorable Super Bowl performance on Feb. 5.
The 30-year-old felt compelled to speak out after a barrage of negative comments about her stomach hit the web. “I couldn’t stop looking at the little flat tire of fat that Lady Gaga had hanging over her waistband and if you say otherwise, you’re a liar,” one individual tweeted, while another said, “Lady Gaga had a little gut in her. It’s the Super Bowl not the Super Roll.”
The Golden Globe winner responded on Instagram by posting a photo from her big night along with a powerful message. “I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too. No matter who you are or what you do,” she wrote. “I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga.”
In a pregame interview with Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan, the blonde beauty revealed how she was getting in shape for the show, which pulled in 117.5 million viewers. “Well I work out a lot and I do VersaClimbing while I sing,” she shared. “I’m singing the show while I’m doing it. Because the show is full-on cardio … it’s cardio while singing.”
Right before taking the stage (or roof, for that matter), Gaga also got in a few extra arm exercises with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak.
