It's been about a year since Tony winner Laura Benanti suffered a devastating miscarriage, but the actress — who's expecting her first child, a daughter, with husband Patrick Brown — opened up about how the experience has impacted her current pregnancy.
“I was so worried and also really scared during the first trimester,” the 37-year-old told People. “I was really scared, all the time.”
The brunette beauty said she was plagued by morning sickness, which only increased her anxiety. “I don’t know what man named it morning sickness. It’s the most ridiculous term I have ever heard," she joked. "It should be called just ’24/7, Never Get a Break’ sickness."

Laura was also performing in the Broadway revival of She Loves Me for eight shows a week, which she cut down on advice from her doctor.
“When my doctor was like, ‘This is nuts — you need to take care of yourself,’ I wasn’t like, ‘Well, the show must go on!’” she explained. “I was like, ‘No, I’m a human being, and I had a miscarriage and I don’t want another one.’ So I really made my pregnancy a priority.”
The Supergirl star added, "I hope me being pregnant after can be inspirational for a woman who perhaps had just gone through a miscarriage and wonders if she’ll ever get pregnant.”
Congrats to Laura and her husband on this joyous news!
