Like mother, like daughter-in-law, apparently? Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s mom Meike Luyendyk spent some time with the former Bachelor's fiancee Lauren Burnham this weekend, and fans couldn't help but notice that they low-key look exactly alike. While some fans thought that the mini-me situation was cute, others were totally grossed out. "It’s weird how all the comments are like, 'Awww, twins! She looks just like you… like, GUYS THAT’S NOT CUTE, THAT’S CREEPY. Oedipus, much?!" said one skeeved fan on reddit, comparing Arie to the mythical Greek king that fulfilled a prophecy that he would end up killing his father and marrying his mother. Ick. Plenty of other fans agreed that it was weird. "I didn't know that the Empire ordered a new Clone Army," teased one fan, while another said, "I would be a little put out if people were telling me that I could be TWINS with my mother-in-law."
Another observation fans made is that Meike seems to be wildly optimistic about Arie and Lauren actually lasting long enough to make it down the aisle. Many fans are skeptical after their incredibly rocky start. "I actually think this is sort of sweet. Moms tend to have genuine rose-colored glasses when it comes to anything relating to their children," one fan wrote in defense of Meike's posts. She certainly couldn't stay on good terms with Arie and act like she thinks their relationship is doomed, so she's probably doing the right thing by accepting Lauren into the family and treating her like a daughter.
