Blake Shelton may have explained the origin of his left forearm tattoo during a Sept. 25 appearance on the Today show, declaring the tat was supposed to be  "deer tracks" — but Life & Style has learned there’s a lot more to the story!
 
“[Blake] was drinking one night and decided it would be cool to get that tattoo,” a pal close to the Voice coach tells the new issue of Life & Style. “When he woke up the next day and looked at his arm, he realized how dumb it was and went back to get the barbed wire tattooed around the tracks to distract from how ridiculous they are.”

And though it’s still hard to miss, the pal adds that at least “the barbed wire is a good distraction from the ridiculous deer tracks.”

We wonder how his wife, Miranda Lambert, feels about it!
