Mama June Opens up About Estranged Daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell: “We Don’t Really Talk”
Big Mama June is now Skinny Mama June, but she’s still struggling with her own personal issues.
The 37-year-old just revealed her new and improved self during last week’s episode of her new WEtv series Mama June: From Not to Hot — which documented her journey as she underwent weight loss surgery to shed about 300 pounds. But there’s one person who’s not so happy for her — her own estranged daughter, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell. In an exclusive interview with Life & Style, Mama June opened up about why they have a strained relationship.
“She’s had opportunities to get on the show and I think that like for her, it’s more of ‘Okay, mama is on TV and I’m not part of it, I’m not getting any money off of it,’” Mama June said. “So it’s more like a jealousy thing.”

Recently, her 22-year-old daughter slammed her in an interview with E! News after she returned to TV and accused her mom of undergoing a transformation just to be famous — not because she wanted to make a positive change towards a healthy lifestyle.
She even mentioned that her mom owes her and her four-year-old daughter Kaitlyn money from when they appeared on the family’s former TLC series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

Shortly after marrying her husband Michael Cardwell in 2014, Anna moved to Alabama — one state away from her mom and her three sisters, 20-year-old Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 17-year-old Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, and 11-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Shannon in Georgia. She currently still lives in Alabama with Michael, Kaitlyn — Anna’s daughter from a previous relationship — and the couple’s one-year-old daughter Kylee.
But since she’s estranged from Anna, that means Mama June is also estranged from her grandchildren. She revealed details about her relationship as it stands now with her oldest daughter.
“We really don’t talk. She’ll go through phases like that, where we won’t talk and then she’ll come up and want me to come get Kaitlyn,” she said.
