Man Who Deactivated Donald Trump’s Twitter Account Comes Forward: “I Didn’t Do Any Crime”

Earlier this month, a “rogue” Twitter employee deactivated President Donald Trump’s account on the social networking site. That person — a German man named Bahtiyar Duysak — revealed his identity in a recent interview. Bahtiyar recounted the incident, which occurred on his last day as a contractor at the social media company, to TechCrunch. Learn more in the video below.

“In my opinion, it was definitely a mistake and if I am involved with this, I really apologize if I hurt anyone,” Bahtiyar — who worked in customer support as part of the Trust and Safety division — said. “I didn’t do anything on purpose but as I said, I had a wild time in America and I was tired sometimes and everyone can do mistakes.”

According to the German citizen, who was working in the US on a student work visa, said Trump’s Twitter deactivation was the culmination of many simple errors. “[It happened because of] a number of coincidences…very little probabilities which randomly occurred on my last day of work,” he explained. “I didn’t hack anyone. I didn’t do anything I wasn’t authorized to do…I didn’t do any crime. I just want to continue an ordinary life.”

“I didn’t do any crime or anything evil, but I feel like Pablo Escobar, and slowly it’s getting really annoying,” Bahtiyar continued, adding that he has no plans to work in the tech industry ever again. “But I love Twitter and I love America.”

After Trump’s Twitter account disappeared for 11 minutes, Twitter’s Government and Elections team blamed it on “human error,” while the 71-year-old ex-Celebrity Apprentice host responded with a cryptic tweet: “My Twitter account was taken down for 11 minutes by a rogue employee. I guess the word must finally be getting out-and having an impact.”
